Who We Are

Origin of (梁) Hainan Kung Fu

The origin of (梁) Hainan Kung Fu can be traced way back to the time of the wave of Chinese immigration (also known as Chinese diaspora) between the year 1800s - 1949, to Singapore, Sarawak, North Borneo and Malaya (now known as Malaysia).

Among them were migrants from Hainan island (海南島), and many of them were highly skilled martial arts practitioners of various styles. In Singapore, some of the well-known and respectable Hainanese martial arts masters were Master Liang Zheng Yuan 梁振源師傅, Master Foo Qi Qiong 符氣瓊師傅, Master Feng An Pang 馮安邦師傅, and Master Foo Shi Soon 符仕運師傅.

Late Grand Master Leong Hi Keen 梁倛堅祖師, eldest son of the late Master Liang Zheng Yuan 梁振源師傅, studied various martial arts styles from Master Liang Zheng Yuan 梁振源師傅 himself as well as from many other well-known Hainanese masters during his time and founded (梁) Hainan Kung Fu, also known as Hainan Quan 海南拳 (Hainan Fist), and Hainan Gong 海南功 (Hainan Skill), an art that was taught mainly to selected individuals within the clan due its lethality. Late Grand Master Leong Hi Keen 梁倛堅祖師 is widely known and fondly remembered by many as a righteous and just unsung hero.

Today, (梁) Hainan Kung Fu is taught to responsible individuals beyond the boundary of the Hainanese clan by Master John Leong 梁倡豪師傅, the youngest son of late Grand Master Leong Hi Keen 梁倛堅祖師.
